In 1909 King Edward VII officially granted the town of Tunbridge Wells its “Royal” status thanks to its fashionable standing with so many royal and aristocratic visitors over the centuries – including his mother, Queen Victoria. Princess Victoria stayed in Calverley Mansion as a young girl, now Hotel du Vin.

Charm and Elegance have remained by-words for the Royal Town, including the Pantiles and the surrounding region. Below you will find a number of venues that are selected due to their charm and elegance for fairytale weddings.

A small selection of wedding venues in Tunbridge Wells

Fancy a quintessential country wedding? The Star & Eagle in Goudhurst, next to the Goudhurst church at the top of the hill that tried to defeat the Tour de France cyclists! The view is stunning overlooking the Wealden countryside as your photos will be if you come here.  Olde worlde charm in a village full of crooked cottages and absolutely chock a block full of history. An infamous spot for the smuggler wars of the 1700s!

Penshurst Place – the most formal of all on this list and possibly to die for? The tudor façade and interior is a dream place to get married as are the intricately laid out gardens.  A total stunner of a venue, you know it’s the real deal when you’re not allowed to wear stilettos inside!

The Beacon – a boutique restaurant with arguably the best view in the ‘burb! Overlooking the historic Rusthall Common, a most romantic place to walk, and the foundations of the original 1700s Spa bath house. This is apparent in the appropriately named Happy Valley below the Hundred Steps in the gardens of the Beacon, Tea Garden Lane on the edge of the village of Rusthall.

The Spa Hotel – One of the large old hotels right on the edge of town with acres of space and gardens outside for the photos. With your every need catered for including the Spa Spa for beautification and relaxation what more could a modern day couple wish for?

Hotel du Vin – in the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells this is a great vintage hotel with lots of character in the mansion where Queen Victoria stayed as a young girl, one for all aspirational princesses! Stylish garden and luxurious rooms each individually and sumptuously decorated. Truly a Gorgeous Georgian.

The Barn – Right in the centre of town too and a well-known pretty little pub with an enclosed patio garden covered with trailing and bright blooms. Family owned and having hosted weddings here for a number of years now, they know the little touches that matter to make your wedding day very special indeed.

Bewl Water – Luxury ‘Glamping’ Bell Tents available including a special bridal tent or make use of the Bewl Belle boat.  Bewl Water is in a large country park near to Lamberhurst.  This means space for kids to run around, uncles to dance and granny to stroll.

High Rocks – An ethereal and unique landscape. Giant sandstone rocks tower above the trees with little wooden bridges and a tropical feeling with lush shrubs and ferns pouring over them. Right out of town in a secluded woody area and on the heritage Spa Valley railway line, you may be lucky and see a steam train puff by!
