Solve the mystery of “The Stolen Gems from Peacock Valley”

From Thurs 22 July to Thurs 5 August and Sat 21 August to Tues 31 August, keep your kids entertained as they search for clues hidden throughout the 150 acre estate.  Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson will be on hand to help them crack the clues. Children who successfully collect all the clues and solve the mystery will receive a sweet treat to enjoy on their journey home!

“The delightful walled gardens at Groombridge Place were a favourite of the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who created the Sherlock Holmes character.  The writer was a frequent visitor and Groombridge Place was the setting for his Sherlock Holmes story, ‘The Valley of Fear’. The writer much admired the house and gardens and felt that Groombridge Place was ‘the very essence of England’.  Copies of the ‘Valley of Fear’ are available to purchase from the shop next to admissions.”

Other play areas and activites in the forest include the long boardwalk with its rope swings and chain bridges and right at the top of the forest visitors can discover the exhilarating giant tree swings which adults and children can enjoy.

Watch one of two daily birds of prey displays on all opening days at 12.30 and 3.30pm.

Visitors must adhere to the government guidelines in respect of social distancing.  There are hand sanitiser stations at various points around the estate.

All visitors to Groombridge Place can enjoy the wonderful countryside setting and all the beautiful walks along the canal path and around the Enchanted Forest.   Picnics are also allowed in the picnic fields.  A BBQ Operates most weekends, bank holidays and school holidays subject to weather.
