Everyone loves discovering new places. From small eateries with glorious food, to woodland walks perfect for the whole family. We’ve rounded up our top pick of lesser-known gems across the borough.

Waterside Cafe, Hawkhurst

Fancy a spot of lunch with a view? This might just be the perfect place. Nestled into the countryside just outside Hawkhurst, the Waterside Café offers a number of homemade treats from Afternoon Tea or Cream Tea to traditional breakfast options.

The cafe sits beside the main lake of Hawkhurst Fish Farm and is open Tuesday to Sunday.

The Little Bull Cafe and Bar, Brenchley

A beautiful brunch spot in the heart of Brenchley. Enjoy locally-sourced produce to eat-in or take away. With classic brunch options available, including American pancakes and Cali Benny (eggs benedict!).

Plus, keep an eye out on their social media for themed set-menu evenings. Not to be missed.

The Heath Stores, Horsmonden

Voted Britain’s Best Village Shop in 2015 (Countryside Alliance, Daily Telegraph British Village Shop of the Year). This beautiful delicatessen is stuffed full of tasty treats including pies, sausage rolls, tarts and more.

There’s a small collection of tables indoors or outside seating for warmer weather. You can also pair your pastry with a walk. One of our favourites is a five-mile hike across the nearby countryside.
