If you’re looking to sit down for a meal while enjoying some summer sun, or sip on your favourite glass of wine during golden hour, then head to Salomons Estate, a manor house in Southborough that has just opened bookings for its new al fresco dining experience.
On selected dates from June 25, the venue renowned for its picturesque gardens invites guests to indulge in delightful roast dinners on the terrace. Boasting panoramic views of the estate and a backdrop of the stunning Victorian mansion, tables are surrounded by 36 acres of meticulously manicured grounds, lush flowerbeds, and a scenic lake.
The estate’s gardening team tends to it, and the relaxed al fresco space provides a serene escape for hungry Sunday diners. Available on June 25, July 9, and August 6 and 27, a menu of seasonal favourites and local produce will be served throughout the summer.
The unbeatable combination of fresh air and fine food means tables go fast, so bookings for Sunday lunch should be made in advance on OpenTable. The menu is prepared by the estate’s talented team of chefs and features succulent meats like sirloin of beef and roasted chicken breast plus crispy potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables, and rich gravy.
Wild mushroom and spinach Wellington is also on offer for non-meat eaters, followed by an indulgent selection of desserts such as cherry meringue, poached pear with limoncello ice cream and raspberry and honeycomb semifreddo cheesecake.
Alongside an irresistible Sunday spread, guests can savour even more delicious dining options among friends and foliage, including sweet and savoury homemade treats from the new summer afternoon tea menu.
Featuring traditional favourites like fruit and vanilla scones, finger-cut sandwiches with cucumber and mint cream cheese and coronation chicken bridge rolls, diners can also enjoy an array of delicious desserts. Prepared fresh by the pastry team, indulge in matcha tea and pistachio opera cake, raspberry, rosewater and white chocolate flowerpots and blueberry and limoncello posset with toasted meringue.
Afternoon tea on the terrace is available Monday – Sunday from 12.00 – 16.00 and can also be booked on OpenTable.
