Take a ride on our Christmas Road Train dressed as Rudolph around the lovely beautiful town of Royal Tunbridge Wells from the 15th November-23rd December! You can start at any of four stops across town to take a 40 minute journey on a festively decorated road train from one end of the town to the other, passing Christmas attractions such as IceSkape in Calverley Grounds, The Pantiles Boutique Christmas Market and The Enchanted Cabin in Royal Victoria Place.

Throughout the journey, listen to Rudolph highlight the attractions across town and give hints for where his reindeer friends may be hiding so you can tick them off your free activity sheet as you spot them as you move through the town.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I purchase tickets for the Rudolph Runner?

Tickets can be purchased in advance online through The Assembly Hall or in person at the Amelia in the town centre.

Information on the Amelia’s opening hours can be found at www.theamelia.co.uk.

Tickets can also be purchased on the day directly from the train conductor at each station (if there is availability). We recommend booking online to secure your preferred time slot.

Are there different ticket types?

To simplify the pricing, there are only two ticket options, a full route ticket that takes you the whole route back to where you started, or a half route ticket that takes you half way around (getting off two stops later).

Tickets can be purchased in advance to board at The Pantiles or Calverley Precinct. You can board the train at our other stations, but these tickets will need to be purchased on the day, on the train itself.

Do children need a ticket?

Children aged 18 months and under can ride free on a guardian’s lap. All other passengers require a valid ticket.

Do I need to bring my ticket?

It’s important you have your tickets ready for any pre-booked journey. Tickets can be in printed form or digital (received via email or in Google / Apple wallets). Proof of purchase is required to board the train.

How long does the Road Train Experience last?

The full experience typically lasts around 40 minutes (with 15min-25min for a half route depending on what station the half route starts from).

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled departure to make sure you don’t miss your train.

What happens if I miss my departure time?

It’s really important to be at the station on time – the conductor will be ready to check your details but they will not be able to hold the train for you. Missed departures are non-refundable, but at their discretion the train conductor may allow you on a later train if there is sufficient capacity.

What can I expect during the ride?

Enjoy a family-friendly journey aboard the Rudolph Runner, with a recorded commentary from directly from Rudolph. You will also be offered a free activity sheet to help tick off when you find Rudolph’s fellow reindeer across the route.

Is the experience suitable for all ages?

Yes! It’s a family-friendly attraction suitable for all ages.

Is the road train accessible for wheelchairs and strollers?

Unfortunately this train is not accessible for wheelchair users (please note, if we are able to repeat the Rudolph Runner experience for 2026, a fully accessible experience will be an aspiration).

Do you offer carer tickets?

Yes, we are able to offer tickets for carers. However, these will need to be booked over the phone with Assembly Hall theatre.

Can I bring a buggy?

Small or medium sized buggies are allowed on the train, but they must be folded down to be as small as possible.

Can we bring food or drinks on board?

Light snacks and bottled drinks are allowed. However, please help us keep the train clean by disposing of waste properly.

Does the experience operate in all weather?

Unless extreme weather makes the journey unsafe the train will be operating. It’s important you follow @rtwtogether on Instagram as information on any cancellations would be posted there.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Unfortunately, tickets are not able to modified once purchased.

Will I get a refund if the experience is canceled?

In the unlikely event of the train being cancelled you will be entitled to move to another journey of your choice, subject to availability, or if desired a full re-fund will be available.

What do the Rudolph Runner train stations look like?

Each train station will be marked by a large human sizes nutcracker with poster board clarifying information about the journey.

Where does the Road Train Experience depart from?

The train departs from the Pantiles (near the entrance to the Corn Exchange), the High Street (approx. half way up), Calverley Precinct (near Waterstones) and Mount Pleasant Road (outside Arlo & Jacob).

Is there parking available?

Can I take photos or videos?
